 Irish Studies Summer School
Located at the renowned Trinity College Dublin, this extensive seven-week course is designed for North American University students. It focuses on several areas of Irish interest, from literary figureheads to critical issues in current Ireland, and a myriad of events designed to introduce the students to Irish life and culture. General Information - 18 June - 06 August 2009 The University of Dublin, Trinity College, in co-operation with USIT, offers an accredited Summer School in Irish Studies on campus in Trinity College, Dublin.
Now in its twenty first year, the school is an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of contemporary Ireland. Carefully constructed parallel module courses introduce the student to Irish literature, history, politics, social and cultural studies, Gaelic literature and folklore and the visual arts. Apart from lectures and seminars, the school also includes cultural events and study related field trips.
The Summer School takes place over seven weeks, June to August, every year.
For the sixth year running, one week of the Summer School will be spent at Queen's University in Belfast in Northern Ireland. Since its foundation, the Summer School has been committed to offering its students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the conflict in Northern Ireland. The week enables the students to explore the North within a structured environment, through their courses and cultural events, and during this week, all lectures will concentrate on
Northern Ireland topics and will be taught by faculty and guest speakers from the North. USITThe Irish specialist in educational and cultural exchange programmes, USIT has served both the Irish and international student communities for over 40 years.
In co-operation with many US universities and other academic institutions, USIT offers a range of international summer schools, specially designed study tours and international work exchanges. As the Irish student and youth travel organisation USIT also provides discounted travel arrangements and services for the independent traveller within Ireland and all over the world.
