Latin America: Rainforest Groves and Latin Grooves
South America is a dazzling mix of landscapes, influences, traditions and wildlife. Its rainforests are home to at least half of all known species, and the world’s largest waterfall, longest mountain range and highest capital city can all be found inside the continent’s borders. With a mix of European, Middle Eastern and Pre-Columbian cultures, South America’s people are as diverse as the land they inhabit. You’ll find spit-roast guinea pig served by women in bowler hats, Spanish-language rock and reggae bands, and a myriad of fascinating local traditions and practices. Volunteer positions are available in everything from teaching English to constructing zoos and farming. In many cases you’ll have a chance to live with local families, and experience Latin American life as it really is. No matter what option you choose, you’re sure to return home from this fascinating land seeing the world through a whole new set of eyes.
